Unlike traditional straight-knife cutterheads, the Shelix uses dozens of four-sided solid carbide inserts arranged in a spiral pattern. The result is a dramatically smoother cut, significantly less noise, and a surface finish that often needs little to no sanding.
Each carbide insert has four usable cutting edges — when one edge dulls, simply rotate it to expose a fresh edge. No re-sharpening, no alignment headaches. When all four edges are spent, individual inserts are inexpensive to replace.
